If you're in your final year of university I think you will be under a lot of stress, in fact I think everyone feels stressed from time to time. I thought I would share with you some ways I de-stress and hopefully you can use some of it to help yourself.
1. Breathe
Step back and take a deep breath, when you feel like you're about to explode or go crazy just stop what you're doing, close your eyes and clear your mind for a few minutes. It will work wonders and stop you from stomping around like Godzilla. Luckily I can identify when this will happen and can diffuse the feeling.
2. Make Lists
It will save you from forgetting something important and will keep your mind organised. When everything is laid out on paper it doesn't look as scary as it appears in your head. Also the sweet satisfaction of crossing a completed task is so good.
3. A Problem Shared is a Problem Halved
Well it might not be accurate but I have found that talking about it with friends or family can help keep the stress and worry that you have bottled up free. Whether you're scared or nervous they will be there for you not matter what, even if they are there just to listen to you. Also writing about it on paper can be therapeutic. I have been really lucky to have a group of friends at uni to vent about how crazy all our essays are.
4. Look After Yourself
Try to get a good nights rest, waking up fresh and ready for the day always gives me the feeling I can accomplish anything I want to. Drink plenty of water, hydration helps the brain work and water is just good for us. Eat well and light exercises are also help relieve stress.
5. Do Something Fun
Watch bad TV, read a book, listen to some music. Whatever it is that you like to do for fun, to keep your mind off everything else.
What do you do to de-stress?

ReplyDeleteI'm a chronic list-maker. There's something about organizing your thoughts onto a piece of paper and crossing them off one by one. It's therapeutic!
