How to recycle the simple way

Today, we are encouraged to recycle. I think (well I hope) that everyone wants to try to look after our planet as much as possible. Most households have recycling bins to put compost, paper, cans and glasses in. We are getting used to the routine of being slightly more greener but I think we sometimes forget that the easiest and probably the most beneficial way of recycling is by making use of something you are about to throw out. My Dad has told me several times how when he was a kid, he would use his sisters empty shampoo bottles to make it into some sort of toy car to play with. I'm not saying we need to get as creative as that. Here is how I use old candle and jam jars.

This is an empty jam jar that I now use to put my cotton pads in, it is quick and easy to grab instead of the bag that they come in. Just in case you were wondering, this is my favourite jam ever!

Originally a mini candle jar is now where I keep my cotton buds, it sits right next to my jar of cotton pads.

I keep my make up in a draw and I have been good at keeping it tidy except when it came to my brushes, they were always scattered everywhere and I couldn't find the brushes I needed and when my candle finished I decided to use it to keep my brushes. Now I'm never rummaging around in my draw.

To empty a candle jar from the wax, put it in the freezer overnight. The next day it should be rock solid and using a knife cut out the wax, then give the jar a quick wash and you have an empty candle jar.

I hope you liked these ideas, do any of you have any tips to re-using old objects in the house?

  1. Nice idea! I use an empty Ferrero Rocher box (so much packaging on those things, it's awful) to store my lipsticks, and these boxes from Carluccio in which Pannettone came in to store perfume in so it's away from the light and also my blushers that I don't use so much :)
